Ki Breathing & Meditation Class

The mind, like the body, benefits from training. Weekly meditation classes are available based on the form of Japanese Yoga known as Shin Shin Toitsu Yoga.

This style of yoga was founded by Nakamura Tempu, and integrated into Aikido training by Koichi Tohei Sensei.

Shin Shin Toitsu literally means “Mind and Body Coordinated“.  Therefore we emphasize keeping the mind alert and unclouded by the cacophony of thoughts that confront us from one moment to the next.

We also integrate Ki training into our meditation with the use of Aiki Taiso (Harmonized Energy Exercises) that were developed by Tohei Sensei to aid in the understanding  and development of an individual's Ki energy as well as Aikido technique.  With these exercises we develop a strong sense of “center“ as well as increased strength.

Benefits of this training carry over into daily life.  The ability to focus and concentrate effectively have many direct applications what you do day to day.

You will need to bring a cushion to start.  As you progress you may wish to purchase a seiza bench.  Please come with an empty stomach, and an open mind.
